A more complex one than average, such as the Zero 100, is even more likely to sound bad when not properly set up. Especially when the 2 are never compared directly. ANY turntable/tone arm that isn't set up right, will not sound good. The argument that it sounds good is very subjective. Garrard's Zero 100, in basic performance, easily ranks with the finest automatic turntables on the market. A replacement belt of similar dimension (except that it was 150mm diameter) was obtained and appears to do the job. The belt dimensions are around 0.5mm thick, 4.75 mm wide and should just fit neatly on the 140 diameter drive section under the platter. For me it was an important reason to avoid this brand. The first issue was that the belt had deteriorated. They remove it, claim that their way is better (which is obviously bog standard) and charge considerably more money for it.
